What is Juvederm

Juvederm is an FDA-approved hyaluronic acid facial filler that immediately restores lost volume to fine lines, wrinkles and depressed areas of the skin – results in a well-rested, more youthful complexion. The Juvederm collection of fillers is made from hyaluronic acid (HA). What’s interesting about HA is that it’s a natural substance in the skin that delivers nutrients, helps the skin retain moisture and softness, and adds volume. Each product in the Juvederm collection of fillers is made from a modified form of HA.

LIFT & CONTOUR CHEEKS WITH JUVEDERM VOLUMA XC

Wrinkles and lines aren’t the only signs of aging. Over time, the cheeks flatten, and the skin may begin to sag. This is caused by a natural loss of volume in the cheek area, or what the experts call age-related midface volume loss. Juvederm Voluma XC is designed to add volume beneath the skin’s surface to lift and contour the cheek area to help create a more youthful appearance.

WHAT IS RESTYLANE?

Restylane is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid that is specifically formulated to act like your body’s own naturally produced hyaluronic acid, helping to visibly correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, including the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds or laugh lines), the corners of the mouth and marionette lines — the area that extends downward from the corners of the mouth to the jawline. Additionally, Restylane and Restylane® Silk are FDA-approved for lip enhancement in patients over the age of 21 and are uniquely formulated to give your lips fullness and definition.

COMBAT THE SIGNS OF AGING WITH RESTYLANE®?

The good news is that you can do something about the signs of facial aging with a product in the Restylane family — to help reveal a younger-looking you. With minimal downtime and no surgery, products in the Restylane family are used to:

  • Add volume and fullness to the cheeks (Restylane® Lyft)
  • Correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds and “smile lines,” the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (Restylane & Restylane Lyft)
  • Treat “lipstick lines” or perioral lines around the mouth and to create fuller, more accentuated lips (Restylane® Silk)

That means you get minimally invasive, clinically proven, natural-looking results to help achieve the look you want. Talk to your healthcare provider today to determine if the Restylane family of products is right for you.

What is RADIESSE®?

RADIESSE® and RADIESSE® (+) are dermal fillers that are used for smoothing moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds (the creases that extend from the corner of your nose to the corner of your mouth). RADIESSE® is also used for correcting volume loss in the back of the hands.

Juvederm Additional Information

SMOOTH PARENTHESES LINES & WRINKLES WITH JUVEDERM VOLLURE XC

Over time, your skin loses elasticity, which contributes to moderate to severe parentheses lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. While serums and creams work on the skin’s surface, Juvederm XC and Juvederm Vollure XC add volume to smooth these lines and folds, to help give you the subtle, long-lasting results you want.

THE JUVEDERM LIP COLLECTION

Some people simply have naturally thin lips and just want to achieve a fuller appearance. Other people have noticed their lips thinning over time and may also have seen vertical lip lines become more noticeable. Whatever your unique needs are when it comes to your lips, the Juvederm collection may be able to help.

The Juvederm collection offers two formulations for the lips:

  • Juvederm Ultra XC adds more fullness and plumps thin lips-whether your lips have thinned over time or you simply want fuller lips.
  • Juvederm Volbella XC is the most recent addition to the collection-tailored to add subtle volume to the lips and smooth the appearance of vertical lip lines.
WHAT ARE JUVEDERM TREATMENTS LIKE?

Juvederm is formulated with lidocaine for enhanced comfort during treatment. Using an ultra-fine needle, the filler is injected just below the surface of the skin to plump the depressed areas. Typically, a Juvederm treatment takes less than one hour, and most people feel comfortable going back to their normal activities immediately.

Shay’s Health and Beauty Spa uses a topical skin anesthetic to make you comfortable during the injections. The cream is applied and sits on the skin for 20-30 minutes prior to your injection. We also give patients a cold pack after the treatment to reduce any discomfort and possible swelling.

WHAT WILL I LOOK LIKE AFTER MY FILLER TREATMENT?

Most of our patients put their make-up on and go right back to normal activities. If you’ve remembered the no aspirin, Excedrin, Advil, Ibuprofen, Aleve rule, then you should have very little bruising after your treatment. A small amount of puffiness or mild swelling for a day or two is normal.

There is a small group of patients who really puff after treatments, especially in the lips. Bruises on the lips are usually easy to cover with lipstick.

DO I NEED TO COME FOR REPEAT OR MAINTENANCE TREATMENTS?

Yes. All of these dermal fillers require maintenance 1-4 times a year depending on which filler, the area injected, and your own particular body chemistry.
