Dermaplanning is a non-invasive exfoliating procedure which includes the utilization of a surgical blade to clear away dead skin and fine facial hair.  Clients can expect an instant smoother skin texture post procedure.

The first step is to make an appointment for a free consultation, where we can discuss realistic goals, achievable outcomes, and expectations regarding your specific spa service.

What is Dermaplanning?

Dermaplaning is an exfoliating treatment that involves a license medical aesthetician gently scraping the surface of your skin with a surgical scalpel.

The goal of this process helps to remove dead skin and “peach fuzz”. So, basically, it's like shaving your face, whereby it gets rid of facial hair. It’s okay to shave your face because cutting the hair at the surface doesn’t’ t cause any change to the hair follicle, therefore diminishing increased hair growth. The ending result has your skin feeling “baby soft” and helps give you a smooth makeup application without having to use harsh exfoliation.

Dermaplaning is a great add on to the “HydraFacial” or chemical peel.  It’s also safe before a big event since there is no downtime with this procedure.

What is the process?

The process involves utilizing a tool with a short upward stroke while being held at a 45-degree angle to exfoliate the skin. Since it is being held at such an angle, there is no worry about piercing the skin. Even though this effective technique may look similar to shaving your face, it should not be tried at home.

There is also no need to worry about the hair getting any darker; dermaplanning targets the vellus hair (peach fuzz) that grows back the same size and color. It is physiologically impossible to grow back thick and darker. After the treatment, the technician will offer a hydrating moisturizer to finalize the process.

What are the results?

The results from this procedure are amazing! By removing the hair, the patients leave with healthier and glowing skin. Dermaplaning is actually a great option to anyone who has sensitive skin or who has contraindications to laser or a chemical peel. It’s also a great alternative for our pregnant patients.
